The team from Planet Plus Kenya, received news about the selection for the BeChangeMaker programme. The team was selected alongside 30 others from over 700 applications received from 83 countries across the world this year. Planet Plus Kenya earned a place at the table because they were very impressed by our talent and motivation to make positive changes in our community.
In collaboration with HP Live, the four-month online training programme looks to inspire action on global challenges through social entrepreneurship and the power of skills. On the 3rd of June, the selected team was hosted for a kickoff meeting where teams introduced themselves and their ideas.
The five-member team, which includes Idah Odeka, the team leader for the programme, Juliana Kimani, Beverly Masita, Diana Musa, and Sarah Anupi; will go through intense training, mentorship and product development coaching. Finally, 5 teams will be selected to go to Paris for their final pitch, where the winners and the top 3 teams will be entitled to prize money to launch their idea as well as other benefits.
The programme has carefully selected a team to guide the participants, which includes Oliver Dubois du Bellay, the Projects and Member Services Manager at WorldSkills (the global hub for skills excellence and development); Michal Jirasek, the CEO of Founderscope and the creator of the Gamified Start-up Toolkit; and Ina Progonati, the HP LIFE Partnership Consultant for the HP Foundation, who is leading the HP LIFE programme that offers 30 free online courses in 7 languages to build key business competencies.
